A week ago, I walked into TJ Maxx for the first time in MONTHS! Honestly, maybe it has even been a year, I don't know. Either way, its been far too long. I walked in with full intentions of only purchasing a keratin leave in treatment for my hair to help my keratin smoothing treatment last longer (find that post here). Surprise, surprise... my plan went awry. I walked straight to the hair section, found picked out a keratin product, and was on my way to browse the skincare section. I forgot my face wash at my parents house and was running low on moisturizer so it was justified, right? Well, in the 10 steps from the hair care to the skin care section, I somehow managed to get distracted by the makeup section. As I walked passed it, I noticed some higher end brands of makeup on display: Too Faced, Becca Cosmetics, Bare Minerals, Stila, Clinique, and Anastasia Beverly Hills were all present on the makeup stand. I saw foundation, contour kits, blush, highlighter, lipsticks and glosses. I wanted it aaallll. However, being a broke college gal, I tried to be responsible and decided on only two products.
Here's what I picked up:
Becca Cosmetics Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation/ Light
What I Paid: $12
I have been wanting to try this product for ages but I'm not huge into foundation, and for the price it just didn't seem worth it. When I saw it at TJ Maxx I just had to have it. I will post a review of this soon!
"Veil your skin with foundation coverage that feels water-light, while it evens and perfects the complexion. Each weightless fluid drop imparts subtle luminosity that blurs imperfections and creates a soft focused glow. In a range of flexible shades with light, buildable coverage Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation imparts a healthy, natural glow.
Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation has won a 2016 Best of Beauty Award in the base category as the best light coverage foundation - 2016 Allure Best of Beauty Awards!"
BareMinerals Gen Nude Powder Blush, Bellini Brunch
What I Paid: ~$10
I have been on the lookout for the perfect peach blush and this is exactly it. Bare Minerals always has quality products and this one is no different in terms of feel, pigmentation, and wear time.
"Instantly warm your complexion, define cheekbones, and brighten your face with Gen Nude Powder Blush, an effortless, highly-blendable, natural-looking color blush. The cushiony soft formula is infused with good-for-skin ingredients including bareMinerals Blurring Mineral Complex, which provides a beautiful soft-focus effect. Amped up nude shades mimic the natural flush of skin for a healthy, radiant-looking complexion."
After I was finished with the makeup section and reluctantly put back like 5 items, I moved on to the skincare section. Again, I saw so many amazing brands such as Boscia, OLEHENRIKSEN, Algenist, and many others, but ultimately decided on products from Boscia and OLEHENRIKSEN. I almost picked up some products from Algenist as I know its a very expensive brand, and had prices as low as $12 for moisturizers that are usually $70, but I was already going a bit overboard so I decided not to.
Here's what decided on:
Boscia Gel-to-Mousse Cleanser
What I Paid: $10
My eyes fixated on the little group of Boscia products on the shelf in the skincare section. I have always wanted to try Boscia products, but never splurged on them. All I can say is I'm happy I found these, and would definitely try more from this line even if at full price. I will post a review of this later.
"Which skin type is it good for?
- Acne and blemishes
What is it:
This gentle cleanser transforms from a gel to a creamy mousse once applied to skin, leaving the complexion soft and balanced. Jojoba replenishes moisture and protects skin from free-radical damage, while willowherb calms irritation and reduces visible redness."
Boscia Sake Balm
What I Paid: $12
Unfortunately it looks like this product has been discontinued. I was able to find some on Amazon, but there are only a few left. I wish I would have bought them all when I had the chance!
Product description (I could only find this from JC Penny's website):
"What it is:
An innovative, gel-textured moisturizer enriched with the finest grade of sake.
What it is formulated to do:
Sake Bomb delivers hydrating and brightening benefits that cause the skin to visibly bounce back from dryness and dullness. It promotes exfoliation, improving the skin’s texture, and it improves the skin’s water content, reduces the look of wrinkle depth, improves firmness, and brightens for a healthier-looking complexion."
OLEHENRIKSEN Nurture Me Moisturizing Creme
What I Paid: $14
Although I had already picked out a moisturizer, I had to have this one as well. This is a reputable brand that I've never tried, but have wanted to. This was appealing because it is for intense hydration for sensitive skin, and mine is pretty sensitive and often slightly red in some spots. Secondly, winter is just starting so I thought this product would be a perfect night creme to calm my skin and thoroughly moisturize it while I sleep. Full review will be coming soon.
"Which skin type is it good for?
- Dullness and uneven texture
What it is:
Nurture Me™ Moisturizing Crème is a rich, nourishing, and hydrating crème that softens and comforts skin. With a multivitamin blend of vitamins A, B5, C, and E, as well as sunflower and rosehip fruit oils, the formula reduces visible redness, conditions skin, and soothes with lasting moisture. Its gentle light pink tint and sweet, light citrus scent indulge and comfort the senses. Drenched in hydration, the skin feels cushiony soft and supple with a healthy-looking Ole Glow™."
Overall, I am so pleased with every one of these products. I am going to try to do separate reviews of each of these as well. My overall bill for this trip was about $75 and was so worth it. Even the hair section had some amazing deals as it was full of Joico and Chi products for about 50% of the usual cost. Definitely check out your local TJ Maxx if you are on the search for some new beauty products!
